Degremont / South West Water

Reid Lifting was invited by South west Water to propose a lifting strategy.

The works consisted of two fully enclosed buildings – the sewage treatment plant in one building on three levels and the sludge plant on two levels. No lifting facilities for maintenance purposes had been allowed for in the design at hand over to South West Water Ltd. As an operational site they were faced with a possible expenditure of approximately £100,000 for the installation of lifting equipment including overhead cranes and other permanent lifting structures.

Reid Lifting recommended the PORTA-DAVIT WLL 500kg lightweight, portable davits and the PORTA-GANTRY WLL 500kg lightweight, portable gantry systems. Reid’s strategy was accepted and eliminated the need for permanent expensive structures. Reid supplied 5 x PORTA-DAVIT WLL 500kg lightweight davits (one for each building level) with a series of sockets, 5 x PORTA-GANTRY WLL 500kg lightweight portable gantry systems and the total cost was under £20,000, a saving of approximately £80,000 on original estimates.
